In the post about a great helm (Great helm) I mentioned about the rivets that join the plates together. Today I’m prestenting how such rivets are created.
Drut fi 4mm – ten jest dość twardy, dlatego pocięte kawałeczki najpierw wyżarzam w celu zmiękczenia.
Wire diameter 4mm – this one is hard, so I get the cut pieces annealed to make them softer.
Wkładam kawałeczek drutu w otwór w płytce o odpowiedniej grubości I klepię zaokrąglonym młoteczkiem, aż zrobi się ładny, półpłaski łebek.
I put the piece of wire into a hole in an appropriate thickness plate and hit with small rounded hammer till the nice semi – flat head is formed.
